Washington, D.C. – Ahead of today’s committee markups, where Republicans will lock in the details of their billionaire-first tax agenda, Families Over Billionaires Director Michael Linden released the following statement:
“House Republicans’ tax plan is a betrayal of working families. Despite endless lies and spin, their newly-released legislative text proves what we’ve known all along: Republicans are planning to make the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in history in order to give trillions in tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.
“With this week’s markups, Republicans are ignoring the will of the American people who overwhelmingly oppose giving more tax breaks to the wealthy, especially at the expense of health care access and basic needs programs. We are going to continue fighting alongside that bipartisan majority to stop this Billionaire Tax Scam.”
