Washington, D.C. – Following House Republicans’ passage of their Billionaire Tax Scam, Families Over Billionaires Director Michael Linden released the following statement:
“Today, House Republicans betrayed the American people. Their Billionaire Tax Scam raises costs on poor and middle class families to fund massive tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Despite overwhelming and bipartisan opposition to their cruel agenda, Republicans broke their promises to protect Medicaid and passed the largest cuts to the program in history – cuts that will lead to millions losing health insurance and avoidable hospital closures.
The American people will “not forget House Republicans’ shameful vote, but, in the meantime, it’s not too late to stop this legislation from becoming law. Families Over Billionaires will use every tool at our disposal as we keep fighting alongside the millions of Americans who oppose forcing working people to foot the bill for more tax breaks for the rich.”
