Washington, D.C. — Today, Unrig Our Economy and Families Over Billionaires are launching a new, over $5 million campaign across 7 key states to stop the Republican Tax Scam as the fight begins in the Senate. These ads will run on TV, radio, digital, and streaming services in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina.
The first ads launching today urge Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) to reject the Republican Tax Scam that would gut health care and take food away from their constituents to give billionaires another massive tax break. Additional ads will be launching in the coming weeks targeting Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Senators Jon Husted (R-OH) and Bernie Moreno (R-OH).
Specifically, the ads point out that if these Senators vote for the Republican Tax Scam, they would be:
- Kicking 16 million people off their health insurance and raising health care costs
- Putting rural hospitals at risk of shutting down
- Leading to over 50,000 additional deaths per year
The ads follow Senator Ernst’s comments dismissing worries that the bill’s Medicaid cuts would take lifesaving health care away from her constituents and lead to more deaths.
“Republican Senators can try to minimize the effects of the Republican Tax Scam, but if they pass it, they would be putting hundreds of thousands of their constituents in danger,” said Unrig Our Economy spokesperson Kobie Christian. “Working families shouldn’t have to lose their health care – or their lives – so that billionaires can get another tax break. The Senate must reject this cruel tax scam and protect their constituents..”
“Republican Senators can’t escape how unpopular their Billionaire Tax Scam is with the American people. If they have their way, millions will lose their health care and basic food assistance, all so billionaires can get bigger tax breaks,” said Michael Linden, Campaign Director of Families Over Billionaires. “We know that when the American people learn more about this bill, they turn against it and anyone who supports it. These ads will deliver that message, and urge these Senators to put working families ahead of billionaires and corporations.”

[Jennifer] Congressman Zach Nunn and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks just voted to make the biggest cut to Medicaid in history.
[Billy] So they can pay for more tax breaks for billionaires.
[Maria] That means taking away our health care that we rely on.
[Billy] When our Senator Joni Ernst heard about how damaging this bill would be,
