Washington, D.C. – As Senate Republicans begin the process of voting on their Billionaire Tax Scam, Families Over Billionaires Director and former Executive Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget Michael Linden released the following statement:
“Senate Republicans know this bill is a betrayal of the American people. Over the past few weeks they’ve repeatedly showed us that they understand the stakes of this vote – from Senators McConnell and Ernst callously dismissing their constituents’ concerns over Medicaid cuts to Senators Collins, Justice, Hawley, Moran, Moreno, Murkowski, Tillis, and Tuberville admitting the damage these massive cuts will cause their states.
For the Republicans who are allegedly concerned over the bill’s impact on their constituents, now is their chance to stand up for the hardworking Americans they were elected to serve. If Senate Republicans put the ultra-wealthy and corrupt special interests ahead of everyday Americans by voting for this Billionaire Tax Scam, they will have to answer to the overwhelming and bipartisan majority who oppose giving tax breaks to the wealthy at the expense of everyone else.”
