Washington, D.C. – Millions will suffer because of the Billionaire Tax Scam Trump and Republicans pushed into law. Despite lies and spin from Republicans, the truth is already breaking through as Americans all across the country learn about the devastating impacts for their local community. Here are just some of the examples of how the damage from the GOP Tax Scam is making headlines nationwide:
Local TV Coverage
Dothan, Alabama – “Almost 50 percent of the children in our area depend on Medicaid for health care coverage. […] But some of that coverage could be lost by the measure Congress passed last week, the ‘big beautiful bill.’ Dr. Nola Ernest says additional Medicaid cuts to an already tight budget for Alabama could be detrimental, meaning fewer kids getting the care they need.”
Tuscon, Arizona – “With the ‘big beautiful bill’ signed into law by President Trump on Friday, many people on Medicaid are worried about what this means for their healthcare. 23 year-old Garrett Noelle has cerebral palsy and says Medicaid helps for his surgeries and health care. […] He says, without Medicaid, his mom would struggle to get him assistance.”
Atlanta, Georgia – “[Parents are] just not sure how the spending bill signed into law by President Trump Friday will affect their families. […] The bill includes cuts to Medicaid and money from that pays for services for students with disabilities. […] For Lola Green, who’s the President of the newly formed Georgia special education parent teacher student association, that therapy greatly helps her son who lives with autism.”
Davenport, Iowa – “Chris Mitchell is the President of the Iowa Hospital Association. He says cuts to Medicaid passed in President Trump’s spending package will be devastating. Without Medicaid, hospitals will have to cut services or raise prices to cover the difference. And that may force some to close, leaving thousands, not just people on Medicaid, without ready access to emergency rooms, care for pregnant mothers, or tests in labs.”
Topeka, Kansas – “Medicaid covers 360,000 Kansans and funds a third of the state’s births, but it would become harder to access this coverage under the new bill. […] Holton Community Hospitals is a cornerstone of the community, and the only hospital in the area for 35 miles […] but with reduced funding, they worry they won’t be able to afford and provide certain services.”
Garden City, Missouri – “The GOP led ‘big beautiful bill’ that passed the Senate Tuesday would cut over a trillion in Medicaid benefits. The Kaiser Family Foundation reported in May that two in seven Missouri Medicaid recipients live in a rural area; half of those recipients are children. The Missouri Hospital Association tells me changes to Medicaid will impact hospital service reimbursements, meaning some rural hospitals may need to cut services.”
Omaha, Nebraska – “The Nebraska Hospital Association says the cuts made in President Trump’s tax and spending bill will result in 78,275 Nebraskans losing their health coverage. […] Another concern for the association, a loss of $3.6 billion in funding hospitals over the next ten years. […] NHA says cuts will force hospitals to eliminate services like labor delivery, EMS, behavioral health, even hospice. […] Chaffee says some hospitals will have no other option than to shut their doors.”
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – “An Oklahoma doctor is sounding the alarm after passage of the Trump administration’s mega bill that passed by a thin margin in Congress. The Oklahoma doctor says it spells disaster for some of his patients. The majority of them are Soonercare, Oklahoma’s version of Medicaid. While he doesn’t know right now how many of his patients will be impacted, he is certain that access to healthcare for Oklahomans will [take a major hit.]”
