Washington, D.C. – On Saturday, during “Families First” protests across the country, everyday Americans took to the streets to reject Trump and Congressional Republicans’ Billionaire Tax Scam. Here are just some examples of protesters speaking out against elected officials who voted to slash health care and food assistance to fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy:

Phoenix, Arizona – “A lot of people from across the Valley took to the streets today to protest President Trump’s spending cuts package, known as the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill.’ It was one of many demonstrations happening nationwide known as the ‘Families First’ protest. The ‘Families First’ demonstration, part of a series of protests across the country. Those who rely on Medicaid. Health care workers, faith leaders and community leaders gathered to share their own experiences and how they’ll be impacted by the cuts. […] Protesters over the weekend say they’re concerned that the spending cuts will harm children, seniors and families here in the Wabash Valley.”
Paducah, Kentucky – “A weekend of protests around the country as people joined ‘Families First’ protests like this one in Paducah. These protests are against President Donald Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ which causes heavy funding cuts to financial aid programs like Medicaid and food stamps. Many say it targets low-income families and gives that money to the rich, in the form of heavy tax cuts.”
Rochester, New York – “It was another weekend of protests across the country and here in New York for Familie’s First National Day of Action. Demonstrations like this one in Rochester took aim at the President’s tax and spending cuts bill, which was signed into law earlier this month. The Congressional Budget Office estimates federal Medicaid spending would decrease by more than 700 billion over the next decade, with millions of people expected to lose medical insurance coverage in that time.”

Sacramento, California – “Let’s make sure everyone has school lunch, everybody has access to health care. Why are we prioritizing billionaires when we need to prioritize the people? That’s why we’re here.”
Gainesville, Florida – “People that are making that little money that Medicaid is helping, those people are struggling to get by day to day. And if you take away their health care, it’s just, it’s just horrendous, especially because it’s going to fund tax cuts for the top earners and top corporations.”
Niles, Indiana – “As a committed Christian, there’s nothing in the Bible that says you should cut nutrition programs. There’s nothing in the bible that says you should cut disease prevention, cut health care, to fund billionaires. That’s not biblical. That’s not scriptural. That’s not Christian.”
St. Louis, Missouri – “Politicians and our elected officials need to put our families first and protect us, not the wealthy few.”
Butte, Montana – “We’d like to send a message that Montanans support Medicaid, that we support these funds going to people that need it. That these people are not waste, fraud and abuse. Our careers are not waste, fraud and abuse. That Montanans stick together, and we expect our politicians to understand we come before billionaires.”
