The Who Pays? National Bus Tour to Launch in Portland, Maine to Mark One Year Anniversary of OBBBA

Local leaders, lawmakers, and community activists will discuss how billionaires a break and everyday Americans got the bill

PORTLAND, Maine — On Tuesday, June 30th at 6:30pm ET, Families Over Billionaires, Maine Center for Economic Policy, and Oxfam will kick off the nationwide Who Pays? Bus Tour in Portland.

The bus-side rally will lift up local personal stories and explore the impact of Republican lawmakers’ choice to hand out $4.5 trillion in tax cuts for billionaires while cutting services for working people in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).

“One year after Congress handed massive tax breaks to billionaires and powerful corporations in the OBBBA, Americans are paying the price,” said Kristen Crowell, Executive Director of Families over Billionaires. “The Who Pays? Bus Tour is traveling across the country to pull back the curtain on one simple question: Who benefited, and who got stuck with the bill? Spoiler alert: it’s working people that are hurting while billionaires thrive.”

Portland is the first stop on the 17-stop nationwide tour, which will hit 13 states and end on July 16th in Tucson, Arizona. It will span the one-year anniversary of the passage of Donald Trump & Republicans in Congress’ “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”

At every stop (see all the stops here), local voices and leaders will tell the local story behind the headlines. The Who Pays? Bus Tour will bring together workers, parents, small business owners, educators, faith leaders, advocates, and local elected officials to share stories, connect the dots, and demand a tax system that works for everyone, not just the ultra-rich.
