House Republicans are moving forward with their plans to give massive tax breaks to billionaires. They had a meeting in the House Budget Committee on Thursday, February 13 to start the process, and the next step will be a vote on the House floor.
Here’s the thing: To cover the whopping $4.5 trillion cost of these tax breaks, they’re planning to make some serious cuts to Medicaid, school lunch, school breakfast, SNAP, and more.
Don’t let your representative decimate Medicaid just to give billionaires a handout. Call them today and make your voice heard!

SAMPLE CALL DIALOGUE
Caller: Hello! My name is [name] and I’m calling from [place]. Can you tell me how [Representative name] plans to vote on the budget resolution?
Staffer: The Congressman hasn’t said yet.
Caller: That’s terrible. [Representative name] needs to oppose this awful budget resolution. One in five Americans rely on Medicaid, including in our district. Medicaid provides comprehensive health care for people who might not otherwise be able to afford it, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities. If [Representative name] votes in favor of this budget resolution, he/she is literally taking away health care people need in order to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.
Staffer: Well, that’s not what the resolution says. There won’t be cuts to benefits.
Caller: The only way to make the numbers in the resolution add up is by decimating Medicaid – with deep cuts to benefits, coverage or both. I am your constituent and I am strongly opposed to this.
Will [Representative name] commit to me, a constituent, that he/she will vote against any bill that would result in [state-ans] losing their Medicaid coverage or losing benefits, and he/she will oppose more tax cuts that overwhelmingly flow to the wealthiest few?
Staffer: No they won’t. But I’ll be sure to let [Representative name] know your thoughts.
Caller: Yes, please do. And take down my information. I will be watching closely and would like to receive an update on how [Representative name] will be voting.
