Chicago, IL (July 21, 2026) – Families Over Billionaires Executive Director Kristen Crowell released the following statement on the continuing resolution expected to come before a vote in the House of Representatives today and set the stage for a third reconciliation package:

“Over the past several weeks, I’ve traveled across the country listening to Americans struggling with higher costs and the fallout from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. They are angry that Washington cut health care and food assistance to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires and corporations—and they’re desperate to know why Congress still isn’t listening.

“This continuing resolution adds insult to injury. It does nothing to lower costs for working families. Instead, it doubles down on failed priorities, including more than $70 billion for an unwanted war with Iran, unchecked funding for a brutal deportation machine, and a law that would make it harder for Americans to vote.

“People want a government that helps them afford a good life, not one that repeatedly chooses the wealthy and well-connected over everyone else. Every time Congress ignores the will of its constituents, it further erodes faith that our democracy is working. Americans know who got the tax cuts, who got the budget cuts, and who continues to pay the price.”

Over the past several weeks, Crowell traveled across the country, from Maine to Arizona, to hear firsthand how people have fared since Donald Trump and congressional Republicans made the One Big Beautiful Bill Act law. The stories on the ground paint a frustrating picture of Americans who feel left out of their government’s decisions; who know that the rich are getting richer under this administration’s policies while they struggle.
